Air Traffic Controller 3 English Language Pack

The objective of each level is the reach a required number of points to pass while avoiding many of the dangers of being an air traffic controller. There are many reasons that can cause a game over for the stage, including a near miss, head-ons during take-off or taxiing, or having enough points to pass the level. Players must also avoid making the stress level for aircraft go up, which results in a game over if it reaches 100%. Players must also direct aircraft on to the runway direction facing into the wind, or else the aircraft will do an automatic go-around on the captain's decisions. In some games, players are able to control traffic from other airports.

Air Traffic Controller (ぼくは航空管制官, Boku wa Kūkō Kanseikan, shortened as ATC) is a simulation computer game series, developed by TechnoBrain, that simulates the operation of an airport. The games simulate the job of an air traffic controller. The player's mission is to direct planes onto the correct ILS, land them on the runway, taxi them to the correct gate, and to direct takeoffs.

We believe it is important for you to look for information about air traffic control and the job of an air traffic controller. You should familiarise yourself with the challenges and demands of the job. For example, you can use Internet and you can read aviation magazines and books on the subject. The more you understand about the job you are applying for, the better you will feel as an applicant.

National Air Traffic Services stipulates that candidates applying to be an air traffic controller must have attained five GCSEs (or equivalent), including maths and English at grades 9 to 4 (minimum grade C or above).

The length of time it takes to become an air traffic controller can vary according to the specialism applied for and the length of time it takes to complete each of the trainee stages. In general, candidates can expect to complete their college training within 18 months. Following college training, operational training can take up to 18 months. In general, candidates can expect to be fully qualified in around three years.

The role of an air traffic controller is a highly specialised occupation. Candidates will need to pass a series of psychometric tests, which determine whether you have the skills, competencies, and behaviours required.

Candidates are presented with a series of scenarios that they would face when working as an air traffic controller. They need to answer how they would deal with the situation and their actions in the scenario presented.

Re-test of one of the online assessments. Candidates are asked to re-take the aptitude tests as the final part of the assessment centre. Scores from the retaken assessments confirm to assessors that candidates have the required skills and knowledge to be an air traffic controller.

The air traffic controller recruitment process is comprehensive and rigorous. Ensure you are aware of the timings of the process, such as any deadlines that you need to complete the online assessment by.

The air traffic controller tests comprise a series of individual tests, each with its own format of questions. Practicing each of the tests means that you are aware of the style of questioning in each of the tests and what the question is asking, saving you precious time when it comes to sitting the actual tests.

Task-related interaction, recorded in an air traffic control tower in Portland, Oregon. Lance is training to be an air traffic controller, and has just finished working a shift. Randy, an experienced controller, is giving Lance feedback/briefing on his performance on that shift.

I spent hours listening to the radio, trying to figure out what the pilots were saying. I could understand most of the words but had no idea what they were talking about. Years later, in flight training, I finally learned the mysterious language of pilots and controllers.

[Departure] and [Approach]: Just after takeoff we switch to Departure. The Approach & Departure controllers watch radar displays in a large room, usually in a building near the base of the tower. They manage the aircraft that are within a 10-20 mile radius of the airport. Approach controllers funnel traffic towards the airport and get them lined up with the runway for landing. Departure controllers guide departing traffic away from the airport and towards the destination.

As an air traffic controller, you'll use highly sophisticated radar and radio communication equipment to communicate advice, information and instructions to pilots. You'll guide the aircraft as it travels, using radar to track its exact position, keep it safe in the airspace and provide the most efficient route.

The majority of air traffic controllers work within area control centres, with just some working from control towers at airports. The role carries considerable responsibility and requires excellent concentration. Your exact role will depend on where you work.

RAF and Royal Navy air operations (control) officers carry out the same take-off and landing procedures as civilian air traffic controllers, but also make sure that air bases are maintained and prepared for emergencies. They communicate with civilian air authorities to ensure civilian aircraft can pass safely through their airspace.

A degree or HND is not a necessary requirement for entry into the role of air traffic controller. Due to the nature of the role, however, a degree that provides a high level of numeracy or technical knowledge may be beneficial.

Trainers and employers of air traffic controllers look for aptitude in areas such as problem solving, handling pressure and dealing with changing situations. This is often viewed as being more important than qualifications.

Once qualified, all air traffic controllers are required to keep their knowledge and skills up to date. This means you will continue to go on training courses or you will receive in-house training throughout your career.

It's possible for air traffic controllers to move to larger, busier airports with experience. There may also be the opportunity to progress to manager level, becoming a group supervisor or manager of a watch or unit. In these positions, you'd be managing the work of other controllers.

There is the possibility to work in air traffic control within other countries in the European Union. English is the international language used in air traffic control, but it may be helpful to have knowledge of the language spoken in the country in which you wish to work.

Is the content of spoken communications used by air traffic control and pilots defined as part of a rigorous language definition? Such as a morphological or lexical foundational system, or is phraseology the extent of formalization?

Here the controller (Grand Junction approach) has advised Cessna 172SP to turn to a heading of 030 and to descend to 3,200 ft MSL. He should also expect further heading instructions for insertion into traffic for runway 30L at Grand Junction airport. The controller also tells the pilot to set his transponder to the code 6411 and ident, so the controller can verify his position.

Actually, ASR has been applied to many air traffic works. Kopald et al. reviewed the importance of ASR on reducing human errors in air traffic operation [18]. Ferreiros et al. studied the speech interface for air traffic control and designed a system for voice guidance in terminals [19]. A semi-supervised learning approach was proposed to extract the semantic knowledge from the speech for improving the ASR performance in ATC [20]. Cordoba et al. presented an overview of ASR techniques and proposed an ASR system for cross-task and speaker adaptation in air traffic control [21]. An automatic speech semantic recognition system was explored to assist air traffic controller and Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) simulations were conducted to evaluate the performance of the studied system [22]. A challenge for air traffic speech recognition was held by Airbus, in which there are two tasks to be completed, i.e., speech recognition and call-sign detection [23]. Over 20 teams submitted their models to test the performance, which shows the importance of taking advantages of ASR for ATC research. The dialect ASR is also a hot research and several methods were proposed in [24].

Structure of the proposed framework. ATC speech: the communication speech between air traffic controllers (ATCOs) and pilots; AM: acoustic model; PM: pronunciation model; PLM: phoneme-based language model; WLM: word-based language model; CIU: controlling instruction understanding; CI: controlling intent; CP: controlling parameter.

He added that the CAAC does not expect any problems with the implementation because most Chinese pilots and air traffic controllers have taken mandatory six-month English courses before starting their initial training. That rule took effect in 1998.

Air traffic controllers give instructions, advice and information to pilots so that they can fly safely, efficiently and quickly. Controllers keep track of flights by using radar and the latest computer systems.

Volpe supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by helping change the way pilots and air traffic controllers communicate. Data Communications (Data Comm), a digital, text-based communication system for air traffic controllers and pilots, offers pre-written messages to replace some of the verbal communications over the radio. This reduces frequency congestion and gives the pilot and controller a written record of the communications. It also takes advantage of ground and flight deck automation, reducing controller and pilot workload, and increasing airspace capacity and efficiency by allowing routine use of more precise, closely-spaced flight paths. 2ff7e9595c
